Sadie's first field trip!

Back in October, Sadie had her first field trip to Black Island Farms.... and I am just now posting about it! Just call me "slacker mom!"

She was extremely pumped when they let us take a hay ride. This is the tractor that took us to a ginormous pumpkin patch.

Did you know that a carrot is a root? Well that's what our tour guy said!

When we got to the pumpkin patch, we picked the biggest pumpkin we could find!

(PS: "I have really BIG muscles".... that's how I was able to carry it all by myself!")

We finished off the day with a mini photo shoot by the pumpkins.

Sadie worked the camera for sure!

I'm a crappy blogger......

so over the next few weeks, I'll be playing a little catch up. I'll start with Halloween.

At the last minute Spence and I decided on our costumes.... I'm talkin like an hour before the Halloween party.

Can you guess what we are? I am Joe Dirt. Spence is a nerd. I told him it wasn't a far stretch for him.

And I don't know why I end up dressing like a man each year for Halloween. Every time I look at the pictures, I get creeped out.

Sadie was THE CUTEST cheerleader. Spence wants me to make it clear to everyone that she is NOT a BYU cheerleader... she's just a cheerleader.

Ava originally planned on being Batman this year... but at the last minute changed her mind and wore her skeleton costume from 2 years ago. She didn't seem to mind that it was way too small and I wasn't going to argue with her.

The other day I spent some time on Etsy admiring all of it's homemade goodness..... Hey, I may not be that creative, but I sure can admire all you people who are! And I stumbled across Lou and Lee Handmade Originals.

I fell in love.

Unfortunately, Sadie would rip these out in like 0.2 seconds and I can barely convince Ava to brush her hair, let alone put anything girly in it. But just because I may not be able to enjoy...... doesn't mean you can't. Maybe you have daughters that aren't such tomboys. Do take a look... you might like!

I love the tiny flowers on this one. And I love, love that the whole headband is made from felt and won't squeeze too tight.

The colors are great in this one. The blue is so pretty against the yellow.

This one is nice too!

The clips are great! They are small ( i'm not a big fan of the flowers that are bigger than your child's head... you know what I'm talking about)

And I think I could probably get Sadie to keep them in.... I hope.

Fish Story

We spent some time at the cabin last weekend. Partly to celebrate my 31st birthday, and partly just to spend some good quality time.. just the 4 of us.... and the dogs, of course.

Dad taught Ava how to cast and they spent most of the afternoon casting their poles into the river. But unfortunately they didn't catch a thing. After a few hours, a disappointed Dad gave up and went inside, but Ava's a trooper... she stayed out longer and tried her luck.

AND SHE CAUGHT A FISH ALL BY HERSELF!!!

A 14 inch cutthroat to be exact! I don't know who was more excited, Ava or her Dad!

Meet Max

Our new addition.

Mom found him on KSL and just couldn't resist.

He thinks he is a lap dog and tries to sneak into our beds at night when he thinks we are sleeping.

We took him to the cabin for Mom's birthday. I've started calling the cabin "dog heaven" because our dogs get so excited to be there.

I LOVE him! I'm pretty sure he loves me too!

I have been awaiting for this for years!!! And now it's finally happening!!!!!

Sadly, we don't have a Zara in Utah. And I make Spence CRAZY each time we go out of town, because I am always scouting out the malls and shopping centers for this amazing store! And now, with a click of a button, I will have this darling clothing line delivered right to my door! MAGNIFICENT!!! I can't wait!

remodel

I'm remodeling our living room. This is the new couch.... simple. timeless. kid friendly. I LOVE it! I can't wait to show you all the rest of the room as it comes together! Stay tuned.... we are painting next!

SUMMER 2010 - the short version

Ava graduated from Kindergarten

Along with her best friend Zach

She even got a diploma!

My Dad and I painted my ceiling...... I think it almost killed him....... I think he wanted to kill me.

We spent some time at the cabin

We lit fireworks.... well Daddy did anyway

Sadie hid on the front porch the entire time

but Ava was totally into it

Ava turned 6. SIX!!!! I can't believe it!

We had her birthday party at Classic Skating in Layton

Grandpa tried to teach Sadie how to skate

Ava opted to scooter instead of skate

We spent a week in Pebble Beach, California

Spence was able to golf his dream course

Grandpa Kevin and Grandma Debbie took us to feed the baby cows

The girls helped Grandma and Grandpa paint an old bench for the garden

Ava started 1st grade and she LOVES it!

And ZACH is in her class!!!!

Sadie wishes that she were too..... I had a hard time convincing her that this wasn't her desk.

But not to worry Sadie! You start Preschool next week!
